There is a noticeable bump to the top front corner. There is a tear/ gouge to the front bottom corner that has torn the cloth. The spine of the book has a noticeable slant. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers have noticeable toning. "The following work is designed for those who are learning the noble game of chess. Many persons have been confused and discouraged at he very outset of the study by the great variety and the delicate distinctions of the openings; and this has constituted a fault in many otherwise excellent manuals for the learner." .
