About This Item
Boston: DeWolfe, Fiske & Company, 1883. Hardcover. 4to. Brown cloth over bevelled boards with gilt and black lettering and pictorial stamping. 121pp. All edges gilt. Frontispiece, numerous small and full-page steel engravings. Very good. Mild edgewear, with endpapers a tad age toned. A tight and attractive second printing of this 1877 words and images celebration of America's natural wonders -- much attention to Yellowstone -- that capitalized on the popularity of William Cullen Bryant's extraordinarily popular 1872 two-volume "Picturesque America." While many copies are worn and weak-hinged, this nice example is tight and fairly nice.
