About This Item

New York: Experimemter Publishing Co., 1926. Magazine. Illus. by Frank R. Paul. Very Good. Paperback. First Edition. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Vol.1, No.2....Vol.1, No.3....Vol.1, No.4...Vol.1, No.5....Vol.1, No.7.....Vol.1, No.8.....Vol.1, No.9...Amazing Stories is credited with being the FIRST magazine dedicated to Science Fiction, founded by Hugo Gernsback, known ( along with Jules Verne and H.G. Wells) as the "Father of Science Fiction". Representing 7 of the first 9 issues published, this is a unique collection of SCARCE individual issues from that first year of publication, missing only the April ( Vol.1, No.1) and September ( Vol.1, No.6) issues. Especially SCARCE in VG/VG+ condition , as these are. All covers are intact, unmarked, clean, and colorful with minimal edge wear, spine wear, or soiling. One issue has a 3" closed tear at the back/top spine and another issue has a 1/4" x 1 1/2" chip at the bottom/right / front corner. A couple are slightly slanted to the right. Interiors are unmarked clear, and firmly bound with the expected toning for this vintage and some dog earred tips. Every issue has a story by H.G.Wells ( including a complete serialization of "The Island of Dr. Moreau") , six of the seven have stories by Jules Verne, and two have Edgar Allan Poe contributions. Even Gernsback's "The Magnetic Storm" is included. Other Contributors with multiple appearances include Clement Ferzandie, Jacque Morgan, G. McLeod Winsor, Garrett P. Serviss, Charles S. Wolfe, and A. Hyatt Verill . More than a dozen other writers are spread across these issues. Truly "Amazing" ! Photos and more details available on request..
