London: B.T. Batsford Ltd, 1939. 1st Edition. Green Cloth. Very Good/Good Minus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Illustrated. 120pp. First edition with wrapper. Illustrated with numerous b/w photographic plates and a colour frontispiece plate. Maps to the end papers. Ligth shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine with a fine strip of fading to the cloth at the extreme ends. Light foxing to the end papers and a little to the reverse of the front end paper. Ink gift inscription to the half title page dated 1940 and a previous owners bookplate to the reverse of the front end paper. Clean and tight. Dust wrapper is price clipped and has rubbing to the wrapper edges and to the edges of the spine of the wrapper. Chip to the head and tail of the spine of the wrapper and to the head of the front panel, with no loss of text. A few short tears from the wrapper edges, expertly repaired. Light creasing to the head and tail of the wrapper and an area of rubbing to the front inner flyleaf. A very good copy in a good wrapper.
