The first section of the book contains 26 verses and illustrations about one US city per letter, there are stereotypical depictions of African and Native Americans. There are also sections of nursery rhymes and the months of the year with illustrations by Horace C Fry; Jessie McDermott; J G Francis; Livingston Hopkins; Morgan J Sweeney; E B Williams; Jessie Curtis Shepherd; R Taylor; E Taylor.
