First edition.

This rare two-part article is from the Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research, 1891. Myers concludes each part with the observation that the experiments he describes have not been carried out and recorded in a seriously systematic fashion. He hopes that the evidence already at hand will prompt further, more rigorous experimentation, suggesting as it does that "a good many sporadic phenomena may be taking place in this world of which science hears little, and might with advantage hear more."

Frederic W. H. Myers [1843-1901]was a poet, classicist, philologist, and a founder of the Society for Psychical Research. His work on psychical research and his ideas about a "subliminal self" were influential in his day but have not been accepted by the scientific community.
