A First UK printing published by MacGibbon and Kee, London in 1966. The BOOK is in near FINE condition and appears unread. A hint of dustiness to the upper text block otherwise a very clean and sharp copy. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition. A hint of mild edge wear in places. A little creasing to the upper spine corner and a mild crease running the length of the spine which is less noticeable with the wrapper in the removable Brodart archival protector. No fading to the spine. The photographic wrapper design looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Inscribed and Signed to the title page by the author: 'To my dear friend Reg, without whose persuasive tongue (flannel) I'd never have written this, Bill Naughton, 27th March 1967'. The dedicatee was the legendary publisher Reg Davis-Poynter who was in charge of publishing at MacGibbon and Kee and who later went on to establish his own publishing group. Rarely found as a signed title. Alfie has been an international best seller and also a major film adaptation starring Michael Caine in the title role. Accompanying this title are also 8 loose colour 20 x 25 cm official photo stills depicting scenes with printed credits from the film, which were used as promotional advertising. They are also in near Fine condition. These photos are a rarity and a collector's item in their own right. A scarce key association copy. Highly collectible with such attributes and ephemera. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.

Description:
A First UK printing published by John Lehmann, London in 1951. The author's scarce second book. The Book is in near Fine condition. The boards are clean with just some light fading and pushing to the spine ends. There is some mild toning to the text block with light offsetting of the end-papers. The book is tight, clean and free from markings and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition. It bears the correct price of 10s 6d. It has some very minor edge-wear with associated creasing and rubbing to the tips of the spine. The spine is slightly toned but this does not detract from the pictorial wrap around design. The rear panel has mild age related markings but less so than usually encountered. The wonderful period wrapper artwork is by the renowned artist John Minton and looks stunning in the Brodart protective cover. John Minton was commissioned to design the wrappers for both of Camberton's books. The book has been warmly inscribed and signed by the author on the upper front… Read More
