The book is in very good condition, with very little shelf rubbing, the jacket is in good condition and has been subject to more rubbing with a few folds most apparent on the top and bottom with a small area missing on the front cover and lower corner. The text itself inside, aside from a previous owners name on the first page, appears clean and clear throughout. 'In a certain sense I was writing letters home for these people, depicting their lives, the dugouts, tanks, where they lived. I was making a kind of record.
