The spine is worn and chipped and the corners are lightly bumped. "After listening to the first lecture of the seminar on the Teachings of the Fire, held in Sweden from August 8-12, 1989, one of the participants asked the following question: 'How is it that such wise and necessary teachings were unknown for centuries, and then were suddenly revealed to the public?' Raul Amon, Teacher of the Fire, replied that we are living at a time when there is a great need for knowledge like that contained in the Teachings of the Fire, which can help reduce the amount of aggression in our surroundings". The Aquarian Press, 1985. Tarot cards. Used- Very Good condition. Tarot deck includes a small 39 page book that fits in the book. The book is slightly discolored, has a scuff along the bottom on the front cover, small tear and fold on the top of page 35, and creasing and tearing on the top corner on pg. 37-39. The box has some scuffing on the edges and corners. All 78 tarot cards plus 2 information cards are included in the deck. The cards are all nice and clean. No markings in the book or on the cards. Large and heavy volume measuring 9" x 6" x 1 1/2". xv + 446 pages + 2 pages publisher's ads. In VERY GOOD condition. Bright and clean, tightly bound and square, with strong uncracked hinges. Spine is not sun-faded and gilt illustration and lettering are bright and unworn. Chipped and frayed top spine end and a tiny chip at the bottom spine end. Rubbed top front corner. Boards have some very faint small stains. Flawless interior with no browning to endpapers and only slight age-toning to pages with no foxing. No previous owner markings..

About the book: George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff, (1877-1949) was a Greco-Armenian mystic and philosopher who founded an influential quasi-religious movement. Gurdjieff taught that people are not conscious of themselves and thus live their lives in a state of hypnotic "waking sleep", but that it is possible to awaken to a higher state of consciousness and serve our purpose as human beings.
