London: John Lane, 1904. First. Hardcover. VG+ to Nr Fine. 1904 London 2 volumes 276 & 297 pp. Ill. Large pull out folding maps in both volumes. One of the most in depth works on the Congo-Zambesi basin. Tremendous travel and hunting diary. Gibbons started at Cairo and explored south along the Nile through Uganda, the Congo, Tanganyika, Zambesia (traveling completely west to the Atlantic Ocean) and back to and through the Okovango. Then south to the Cape. A major feat and an exceptionally rare work. Vg+ to very near fine in orig. cloth binding with large gilt/deco map of the route on the front covers. Very scarce, perhaps rare, especially when complete with both original pull out rear pocket maps. The maps are thick and the bindings are firm and tight, unusual for this set.
