London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1943. 138p., wartime Gollancz was paper-starved, and the entire book is toned, with specks of stain and foxing, and even a little warped. Hardcover in 7.5x5 inch green cloth boards, lacks the dj, not so fragile that item cannot be leafed through confidently. A reasonably good story by a writer well up on the culture of ancient Greece, though he was noted in his day as a great eccentric. Aesop we meet immediately as a disabled child thought to be as undeveloped as an animal; he turns out to have stories to tell. Alfred Daniel Wintle, intrepid British soldier in both world wars, googles; a known quantity.

We have 4 copies available starting at £16.00.
