A well-documented account of the series of events begun in 1941 with the Battle of Crete, the capture of Samos and Leros, and the debacle of September, 1943 when the American forces failed to capture the island of Rhodes and secure a route to Turkey, which would have brought Turkey into the war and forced Hitler to defend a 3,000 mile front from Finland to Istanbul. Illustrated with contemporary drawings and documents significant to the author, 48 black-&-white plates, and six maps. Appendices, Index.
