Oblong 4to (11 x 8 3/4"), cloth backed pictorial boards, covers soiled with edge rubbing, 2 archival margin mends, inscription on endpaper partially inked out, a VG copy of the first Golliwogg book. Illustrated by Florence Upton with marvelous and fanciful full page chromolithographs to accompany text by her mother Bertha. This is sold with a possibly pirated copy in pictorial wraps titled "Dutch Dolls and a Golliwogg" with no credit given to the Uptons. Apparently used by stores as give-away the rear cover has an ad for the American firm of J.S. Shade's Sons. Featuring 5 full page color illustrations including cover and 6 in text black and whites
