[Goverment Printing Office, Washington, 1812]. Octavo. . U.S. 51st Congress. 1st Session, 1889-1890. House. U.S. Congress. Committee on Territories. unopened. 320 pages, xii, index. All of the legislation signed by Henry Clay of the House, Wm H. Crawford of the Senate, and President James Madison. The most important single item is on pages 227-228 which is the declaring war between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland. Chapter XIV is the next act which shows how extensive in pages 17-24 the increase of the branches of services would be, the salary and bonus system, the payment to widows and children of those who die in service and a long section on the penalty for those who would aid and abet deserters. There is a law for rangers to protect the borders against Indians (Chapter XI). Bound in the original gray paper wraps, backed with white paper, title in ink on spine, some paper loss to spine, light scattered foxing to toning, two old tape mends to head, wrappers have soiling or toning.. A very good copy.
