London and Edinburgh: G G J and J Robinson; and C Elliot, 1785 A good copy in contemporary rebacked half leather binding with marbled boards. Contents complete with folding map. The binding has gilt ruled lines to the spine and title label. There is the remains of a small old label at the top of the spine. Both the leather surface and the marbled paper surface on the boards are scuffed. Corners worn with some leather loss. Internally there is some scuffing to the front pastedown endpaper where it looks like a bookplate has been removed. The front endpaper is split at the joint, but it looks like this was left as such when the book was rebacked. Contents: initial blank; folding map; title; contents and errata 2pp; introduction pp i-clxv; text pp 1-452 including appendices with folding table and single page town plan; finis. The folding map as archival tape repair at the attachment; there is some offsetting from the town plan to the opposing page; and remains of old pencil marking to the rear pastedown endpaper. Otherwise contents generally clean with the odd spot or mark.
