The author's photographs cover many aspects of aboriginal life and people; food gathering, the making of weapons and tools, art forms of various kinds, family life, rituals and ceremonies, childhood, youth, maturity, and age, in almost every degree from the unburdened nomads to those brought into contact with Western-style civilisation. The introductory text and photographic captions are also by Dr Mountford, and showed clearly his affection for and understanding of the aborigines. -- front fold over blurb dust jacket is faded on the spine section and has 1/2 inch tear at the top of the spine, ownership detail at the top of the front end page which also has 3 small marks from silverfish.
