Apparently stories were first printed in Tinsley's Magazine 1870's. Has seen various printings by assorted publisher in US and GB. Each story carries an engraved frontis plus much other engraved illustrations throughout.,.Brown cloth covered boards w/ gold embossed title on spine. Owners name gold embossed on front (E.A. Wald) Corners worn through. Front & rear hinge show crack , but no separation or loosening . Fade to cloth. .Short tear top edge of free end paper and fly. Neat pencil name on reverse of frontis.

Entire issue, April 8, 1884, in original wraps, 32pp, printed in double columns, illustrated with a half-page engraving at the Vanedene page, water-staining noted at bottom margin, spine separating in a few places. Please note: issues were printed on cheap paper, and are prone to chipping and tearing. The Vanedene is here published anonymously, by the author of Stainless, and Sweet Dorothy Capel. Scarce..
