About This Item

Melbourne: Palace Theatre, 1922. First Edition. A memento of the first theatrical production to run for two hundred consecutive performances in Melbourne. Souvenir programme: Thursday, October 5th, 1922.

Ada Reeve (3 March 1874 - 5 October 1966) was born in London, beginning her career on the stage and screen when she was only four years old. Ten years later, after a serious decline in the health of her father, Charles Reeves née Samuel Isaacs, the family relied upon Ada for financial support. Life in the music hall gave way to a life of international acclaim. An extraordinary woman, the talent of Ada Reeve saw her in near continuous employment for almost eighty years. Quarto, illustrated paper wrappers bound with the original tie, 18 pages, creatively illustrated with photographs (sometimes set against a backdrop of line drawings) throughout, slight marking, a very good copy.
