Tri-fold, 3.5” x 7.5”, Near Fine. Souvenir of the 1962 Freedom Bond Drive. In Spring 1962, the Treasury Department conducted the first nationwide Savings Bond campaign since the Korean War. McDonnell Aircraft Corporation and General Motors co-sponsored the exhibition tour of the Project Mercury spacecraft. Includes image of the Mercury Capsule, described as “the space classroom for America’s astronauts,” with its compartments labeled, and images and short bios of “America’s Astronaut Team,” the Mercury 7—Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Deke Slayton, Gordon Cooper, and Wally Schirra. “Mankind’s most exciting dream—the exploration of the universe beyond our earthly boundaries—is beginning to come true….Invest in a stronger America for the exciting Age of Space.” Uncommon.
