About This Item

London: Institute of Contemporary Arts, 1984. Vintage photograph of director Nestor Almendros and writer Susan Sontag, taken in 1984. With three printed Institute of Contemporary Arts labels affixed to the verso.

A searing documentary, focusing on the Castro regime's persecution of Cuba's lesbian and gay population. The film interviews members of the American Left who initially voiced support for the revolution, such as cultural critic Sontag and novelist Guillermo Cabrera-Infante, as part of a larger discussion about the shortcomings of the new Cuban government and the failure of many US socialists to condemn the mistreatment.

10 x 8 inches. Near Fine.
