Johannes Becker migrated from Germany to the Barossa Valley in 1925 and would later become the leading organizer for the Nazi Party in Australia. Days after the outbreak of WWII he was interned along with his Party comrades. Though Becker lost favour with Nazi officials in Germany and was expelled from the Party in 1941 he was interned for 7 years. In 1947 he disappeared while on parole and was captured on a ship bound for Panama. He was deported to Germany, leaving behind his family and was never allowed to return to Australia. .
