El Anatsui: New Worlds Paperback - 2015

by Mount Holyoke

From the publisher

One of the most acclaimed figures of today's global art world, Ghanaian artist El Anatsui has remained in the limelight since his sensational appearance in the 2007 Venice Biennale. When the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum collaborated with the artist to organize an exhibition of his monumental artwork--including a personal visit to the remote Massachusetts campus--it shocked the contemporary art community. El Anatsui: New Worlds is the product of the college's prolonged engagement with this installation--a lavishly illustrated volume highlighting the responses of twenty members of the community. Drawing on their own training in computer science or philosophy, biology or economics, the contributors examine their creative and intellectual reactions to Anatsui's powerful sculptures, offering the unique lens of their particular discipline. With its stunning design, diverse scholarly perspectives, and featured conversation with the artist, El Anatsui: New Worlds will captivate art lovers and art historians alike.
