Montgomery, (November 30, 1874-April 24, 1942) was a Canadian author, best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables. Montgomery came to the village of Norval, Ontario with her husband, the Rev. Ewan Macdonald, who had been appointed minister of Norval and Union Presbyterian Churches, and their sons, Stuart and Chester.
