London Hardback - 2011

by Richard Bryant

From the publisher

Richard Bryant's London is a fitting love letter to a city with an unparalleled history and an inimitable and tangible soul. Following the path of the river, the reader travels across London, from the bucolic West to the postmodern East--from the beautiful villas and gardens of Notting Hill through Bedford Square and Georgian London to Roman ruins, the historic monuments of Greenwich, and the new city rising in the docklands. Richard Bryant's spectacular photographs capture every aspect of London, from the distinctive beauty of the Royal parks to the formal splendor of Whitehall, and from the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament to charming Fenchurch and streetscapes unchanged for centuries. In the tradition of New York New York, Los Angeles, and Atlantic, this deluxe volume showcases breathtaking panoramic photographs--including ten stunning gatefolds that open to present six feet of cityscape. The edition will be limited to 5,000 numbered copies, each including a signed print. With an introduction by Peter Ackroyd, the most distinctive and authoritative biographer of the city to date, London is a unique and definitive tribute to one of the most amazing cities in the world.

Media reviews

“Bryant’s London is a fitting love letter to a legendary city…showcases stunning panoramic photography–and 10 breathtaking gatefolds that open to six feet of cityscape…a must-have for any Anglophite.” ~Century 21 Fine Homes & Estates

"The photographs, which include several panoramic foldouts, are gorgeous and majestic, haunting and moody, stately and lively...A magnificent achievement and an absolute feast for the eyes." ~The Philadelphia Inquirer

"It’s a journey that could only occur in book form. Or, rather, in the form that publisher Rizzoli is so lauded for. Thanks to a giant trim size, heavy paper stock and superb production values, London’s images are alive on the page, making the gatefolds feel like an overindulgence. Which is precisely the point." ~Architectural Digest

"A Magnificent achievement and an absolute feast for the eyes." ~The Chicago Tribune

"...if you can't get there, buy the book." ~Travellady.com

“This oversize photo book, in a limited edition of 5,000 numbered copies, belong on the heaviest of coffee tables….The photographs, which include several panoramic fold-outs, are gorgeous and majestic, haunting and moody, stately and lively and always full of surprises…” ~San Jose Mercury News
