This book is the Grosset and Dunlap Photoplay Edition of the original publication by Harper & Brothers. As a Photoplay edition, it is a first edition by Grosset, however, the book was originally published in 1923 by Harper and Brothers. On the copyright page are the letters M-X which signify that the edition used for this reprint was the Harper's Edition M-X -- (December 1923). The Photoplay Edition by Grosset, however, was published to coincide with the release of the Paramount Film Production. That film was released on June 21, 1924. Therefore THIS Book was released AFTER June 21, 1924. This book is without the dustjacket and is in Fair condition. Red covers with black printing. Picture of cowboy climbing mountain side and looking over his shoulder on cover. It has much edge wear and rubbing with fraying on spine and bottom front edge; the front hinge is still attached but is loose with webbing showing; and back hinge is beginning to loosen, also. Binding of text block is still intact and firm. Pages are toned; corners of both cover and page edges are well rounded. All pictures and text intact and unmarked except for random fingerprint, soil. 419 pages + 5 pages of ads in back. 12mo (7 5/8" X 5 3/8") Plotline: Adam Larey becomes a fugitive from justice when he escapes after being blamed for a crime he did not commit. He wanders into the desert wastelands and joins an outlaw gang who prey on gold prospectors. Years later, he meets his wife and her gold-prospecting father as they have come there seeking their fortune, and not knowing the danger of the treacherous desert wastes, the poisoned-water holes and the outlaw bands of marauders who roam the desert in search of the gold found by others. He comes to their aid and, eventually, manges to clear his name of the false charge against him
