"Established as a composer of talent and ambition, Gershwin maintained his place on Broadway by writing some of his most successful musicals, including Strike up the Band (1927; rev. 1930), Girl Crazy (1930) and Of Thee I Sing (1931), which won a Pulitzer Prize for drama."
