London: The CHURCH EXTENSION ASSOCIATION, 1892 Paper Back, Illustrated card wraps. vii + 84pp. 10 b/w photos. Christmas Issue of a publication of The Church Extension Association a Christian charitable organisation founded to help the poor and which in addition to supporting work houses and food missions for the poor in London also operated two orphanages/ convalescent homes in St Annes Lancs and Broadstairs in Kent where by public support looked after between 600 and 700 orphans. The annual contains articles about the organisation as well as stories promoting christian values etc. Another interesting feature are the many contemporary adverts from commercial sponsors. Good - prize insc for reciting a chapter of the bible Christmas 1892 to obverse of frontis. Rubbing /damage to paper covered spine near tail but surprisingly sound and complete for age.
