New York: Aperture, 1986. First edition and first printing. Oblong hardcover. Features a brief introduction by Robert Adams. A collection of 50 black and white photographs of the Los Angeles Basin. A clean near fine copy in green cloth boards but from the library of the Visual Studies Workshop with their sticker to the rear pastedown and some other minimal marks and in a close to near fine dust jacket with some minor wear and a sticker to the front panel. Otherwise a nice copy of a relatively uncommon book.

A fine copy in the photo-illustrated dust jacket that is very lightly rubbed at the corners and has a small crease at the top of the spine, not affecting the binding. "Southern California was, by the reports of those who lived there at the turn of the century, beautiful; there were live oaks on the hills, orchards across the valleys, and ornamental cypress, palms and eucalyptus lining the roads. Even now we can almost extrapolate an Eden from what has lasted..." (the photographer).
