Volume 1: 414pp. With 55 full page colour plate paintings by eight leading bird artists, and 15 b/w plates, line drawings and figures in text. Volume 2: pp to 945; with a further 119 full page mostly colour plate paintings, and 94 b/w distribution maps. Aims to include all the available knowledge on the diurnal birds of prey of the world. The plates, by Roger Tory Peterson, J.C Harrison, C.E. Talbot Kelly. Don R. Eckleberry, David Reid-Henry, Albert Earl Gilbert, Guy Coheleach & Lloyd Sandford, are excellent, and illustrate adult and immature plumages; underwing plates are included. Fine in Very Good slipbox. Clean, bright covers and pages; light spotting to closed edges. Box has rubbed edges with slightly frayed corners, a few edge chips to back paper.
