Palgrave is known for his anthologies of poetry and was a respected editor of texts. He wasProfessor of poetry at Oxford University for some time. Robert Herrick was a 17th Century lyric poet and cleric. His best known book of poems is his Hesperides which includes his carpe diem poem 'To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time. ' Condition: In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to the spine and board edges. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Loss to the backstrip, particularly at the head and tail of spine and to the joints. Prior owner's gift inscription to the recto of front endpaper, dated '28. Internally, firmly bound.
