Imprinted at London : By Robert Barker, Printer to the King's most Excellent Majestie, 1615. 0. A very good early full leather binding. 4to. Black Letter. 9.00" x 7.00" x 3.50". Dark brown calf with rubbed blind stamped decoration to both boards and spine. Hinges carefully strengthened. Spine with 5 raised bands. Plain endpapers (handmade paper). Book begins with the "Booke of Common Prayer". Title-page browned, title in red and black, dated 1614, and contained within a decorative wood cut border. Carefully strengthened along the inner and outer edges (small loss to top outside corner). The prayer book is complete. Followed by: "The Genealogies..." - lacking p.9-10. Followed by the Bible. Engraved general title page: Printed title, within woodcut border representing the tents and shields of the 12 tribes, the 12 apostles, and the 4 evangelists. 3 preliminary pages. Genesis begins on f. 1, Old Testament is complete and ends on f. 358. Apocrypha ends on f. 435a. New Testament engraved title, dated 1615. 6 preliminary pages. Matthew begins on f.441, and Revelation ends on f. 554b. Bound with:"Two right profitable and fruitfull Concordances...1615." - Complete ending with a colophon (dated 1615), also an inked signature in an early hand of "Thomas Bockley". Bound with: "The Whole Booke Of Psalmes...Company of Stationers, 1616." - All Psalms present, just missing the last leaf of Prayers. Clear black letter text in double columns, with marginal references. A couple of leaves with loss to corners and a few words of text, a few light stains and browning to page edges, some headlines shaved, a few margins frayed. Still a well preserved Geneva bible, with all title-pages. Referenced by Herbert 340 / Darlow & Moule 264 / STC 2241 . .
